The current advance in artificial chromosome based DNA information storage
DNA offers an alternative material for digital storage with high information density and long-term stability. A
de novo
design and synthesis of an artificial chromosome that encodes two pictures and a video clip has recently been achieved by Prof. Yingjin Yuan's group from Tianjin University
Tianjin
China. This study establishes a data storage strategy using encoded artificial chromosomes
via in
vivo
assembly. It allows multiple retrievals from a onetime written and stable replication
which advances in the economically massive data distribution.
